Java Software Engineer

Location: Galway - Hybrid (1 week per month onsite)
Employment Type: 12 Month Contract
Rate: €375 per day

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join a dynamic Digital Security team within a leading financial services organization. This team is responsible for delivering advanced security solutions to safeguard enterprise assets in an ever-evolving cyber threat landscape. The team focuses on building and supporting authentication and identity management applications that enable secure access to customer-facing systems. Our technology powers secure interactions through various channels, including the Internet, voice platforms, and trusted partner integrations. We offer robust multi-factor authentication capabilities using out-of-band, knowledge-based, and token verification methods.

As a Senior Fullstack Engineer, you'll play a key role in modernizing secure authentication for millions of users. You will work closely with architects, product owners, and business stakeholders to design and deliver secure, scalable, and user-friendly authentication features.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver secure and scalable authentication features using cutting-edge technologies.
  • Lead engineering initiatives across environment setup, data integration, clustering, and load balancing.
  • Provide ongoing production support including incident management and participation in on-call rotations.
  • Drive technology life cycle management and continuously improve engineering processes.
  • Support technical decision-making and lead engineering activities within the squad.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technology discipline.
  • 5+ years of fullstack development experience in enterprise cloud environments.
  • Strong background in Java, J2EE, Spring Boot, Spring MVC/Integration, REST, and web technologies.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automation (unit, regression, performance testing), and tools like Git and Jenkins.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (preferably AWS), Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of cloud architecture (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and experience deploying workloads in the cloud.
  • Experience with monitoring/logging tools such as Datadog or Splunk.
  • Familiarity with JUnit, JMeter, and event-driven architectures.
  • Proven ability to mentor peers, review code, and lead by example.
  • Passion for building resilient, secure, and scalable solutions.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and collaboration skills.
  • Prior experience in the Cybersecurity domain, especially with SSO, login flows, or multi-factor authentication, is a strong plus.
