IVA Appointment-Taking Insolvency Practitioner

Location: Manchester

Working arrangements: Remote, hybrid or office-based

Salary: Dependent on experience

An opportunity for an experienced IVA Insolvency Practitioner-or a Corporate Insolvency Practitioner ready to take their career in a new direction.

Imperium Financial Recruitment is recruiting an Appointment-Taking Insolvency Practitioner for a Manchester-based volume IVA provider.

This role offers the opportunity to take responsibility for an IVA portfolio, provide technical leadership and help maintain high standards of case management and customer care. With remote, hybrid and office-based arrangements available, the position offers flexibility alongside substantial professional responsibility.

Applications are welcomed from experienced IVA appointment takers and licensed Corporate Insolvency Practitioners interested in transitioning into personal insolvency.

The role

You will take appointments as Nominee and Supervisor, exercising independent professional judgement and overseeing the progression of cases throughout the IVA lifecycle.

Working closely with operational managers and case administration teams, you will help ensure that cases receive appropriate scrutiny, decisions are properly documented, and issues are identified and addressed promptly.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing IVA proposals and supporting information to assess suitability, affordability and viability before accepting appointments.
  • Undertaking the responsibilities of Nominee and Supervisor across an allocated portfolio.
  • Providing oversight of case progression, including reviews, variations, completions and terminations.
  • Making informed decisions on complex cases and handling technical escalations.
  • Overseeing the preparation and quality of reports, notices and communications.
  • Working with compliance and operational colleagues to maintain appropriate controls and consistent case standards.
  • Supporting fair treatment of customers, including those experiencing vulnerability or changes in circumstances.
  • Providing technical guidance and developing the knowledge of case administrators and managers.
  • Supporting monitoring visits, file reviews and the resolution of any findings.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes while maintaining professional standards.

About you

You will be a licensed Insolvency Practitioner with the appropriate authorisation to take personal insolvency appointments, or a Corporate Insolvency Practitioner willing to obtain any necessary authorisation before taking IVA appointments.

You will also bring:

  • Sound professional judgement and a clear understanding of the responsibilities attached to taking appointments.
  • Strong technical, analytical and decision-making skills.
  • The ability to oversee a substantial caseload while maintaining attention to individual case circumstances.
  • A practical, organised approach to managing priorities and resolving issues.
  • Clear communication skills and the confidence to guide colleagues and challenge decisions where appropriate.
  • A commitment to ethical practice, effective oversight and fair customer outcomes.

Previous experience of volume IVA operations and appointment taking would be advantageous.

The recruitment process will explore your transferable experience and the technical development and support needed to move into IVA appointment taking.

The opportunity

  • A key appointment-taking position within a Manchester-based volume IVA provider.
  • Remote, hybrid or office-based working arrangements.
  • The opportunity to influence technical standards, case quality and operational improvements.
  • Scope to apply your existing IVA expertise or develop a new specialism within personal insolvency.
  • Remuneration reflecting your experience and the responsibilities of the role.
