Job Description
IT 1st Line Support Engineer
Location: Aberdeen, Scotland
Salary: Negotiable depending on demonstrable experience
Flexible benefits fund: £900

Penspen is currently looking for a 1st Line IT Support Engineer to be based in the Aberdeen, Scotland office.
Main Purpose of Role:
- The IT Support Engineer will support the business by resolving IT issues and helping increase the efficiency of business processes.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the installation and maintenance of the corporate operating systems and storage infrastructure, ensuring all standard procedures and policies are fulfilled.
- Act as a technical resource in assisting users or project teams, take ownership of issues or problems assigned, and keep key personnel informed on progress.
- Assist users in assessing needs and provide/document justification for equipment and services, maintaining network security through Active Directory and other approved services.
- Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends to prevent future problems.
- Liaise with suppliers and IT service providers to raise faults or query progress.
- Work as part of a Global IT Support team, helping and covering for other team members.
- Plan the deployment of software releases for in-house applications and manage the release process from planning to deployment.
- Troubleshoot problems and support corporate operations such as email, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, remote access including MFA, Active Directory, etc., with respect to hardware and software issues.
- Communicate with local users about supported IT systems, including basic training and workflow improvements.
- Support the IT change team with the rollout of new systems and services.
- Troubleshoot and support collaboration services such as Avaya telephone systems, Microsoft Teams, Windows 11, and Office 365.
Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience (Skills):
- Preferably degree qualified in computer systems.
- Full Driving License.
- Experience with desktop and server operating systems, VDI including VMware management console, and application publication.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, preferably within a global team.
- Experience deploying and managing anti-malware solutions and cleaning infections.
- Experience with Intune and software deployment, including SLM license servers and application packaging.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure providers such as AWS, Azure, GCE, etc.
- ITIL experience.
- Flexibility in work time and location with willingness to travel to Penspen sites.
- Extensive application support experience with Windows 11 and Office 365.
- Good skills in Exchange and Active Directory administration.
- Knowledge of cloud-based video conferencing systems like MS Teams and Logitek.
- Extensive knowledge of GPOs, firewalls, routers, wireless access points, switch monitoring, mobile device configuration, and MDM systems.
