IT Infrastructure Specialist

Implement, manage and support the organisation's data network and computer systems, ensuring standards of performance and security are maintained.

This: successfully resolving IT support calls in a timely and efficient manner; performing installations, configurations, relocations and decommissioning of computer hardware and software; fault finding and rectifying problems; escalating issues as appropriate; promoting good practice in the use of hardware and software and IT security; diagnosing complex integrated service issues; providing specialist knowledge and guidance on technical aspects of systems/services; acting as a local expert / reference point.

Ensure standards of performance and security are maintained. Support the delivery of health care, and for the service to become associated with efficiency.

As a senior role within the team we are looking for someone with experience of implementing/managing Microsoft Server environments, both on premises and cloud, VMWare, Veeam, Citrix VDI, SAN Storage.

The post holder will be required to work from the Harrogate District Hospital site and will be added to the departments on call rota providing cover out of hours.

Main duties of the job

Provide future technical direction and solution design across core technologies underpinning the clinical applications specialising in the IT Infrastructure, Servers, Networking & Telecom including Cloud based services.

Take the lead on Infrastructure and IT elements of Digital projects working directly with the project managers, manage the implementation activities of their own Infrastructure projects.

Analyse, investigate and diagnose complex facts and situations when dealing with strategic or operational issues to resolve the issues in a timely manner as part of the 3rd line support service.

Proactively manage and support the end to end IT infrastructure across the organisation to ensure it is reliable, available and performs as agreed to service levels and targets.

Person Specification Shortlisting Criteria
  • A minimum or equivalent of 5 years working in an IT technical role or Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
  • High level of theoretical and practical experience of Microsoft Operating Systems; CISCO networks; VMWare; TCPIP communication protocol; Unix operating systems; Computer hardware; email active directory; backups.
  • Experience of working with clinical and corporate systems.
  • Detailed knowledge of IT related confidentiality and security.
  • IT projects experience and leadership.
  • Quality of application/supporting information overall.
