Job Description
ACT Group Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands
We're looking for a highly skilled Data Architect to shape the design and strategy of our data architecture for enterprise reporting and analytics. As a pivotal member of our Enterprise Architecture team, you'll ensure our data infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and aligned with our evolving business needs.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing and refining our end-to-end data architecture, including data lakes, warehouses, pipelines, and governance frameworks.
- Defining and implementing data modeling standards, ensuring schemas, data lineage, and metadata enhance clarity and discovery.
- Driving architectural decisions on data platforms (cloud, hybrid, or on-prem), tooling, and integration to meet performance, scalability, and cost goals.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams-business analysts, BI developers, data engineers, and IT-to translate business requirements into robust, efficient data solutions.
- Establishing best practices and standards for data quality, security, and governance, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal policies.
- Monitoring system performance, optimizing data flows, and ensuring architectural integrity across all analytics environments.
- Leading data architecture reviews, code quality assessments, and fostering a culture of continual improvement and innovation.
To thrive in this role, you bring:
- 5+ years' experience as a Data Architect or similar role, with demonstrable expertise in designing enterprise-grade data platforms.
- Proficiency in modern data engineering and analytics technologies-for example, cloud platforms (e.g., Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, GCP BigQuery), ETL frameworks, data modeling tools, and data governance platforms.
- Hands-on experience with both relational and dimensional modeling techniques, modern data lakehouse design, and scalable pipeline architecture.
- Exposure to conceptual and logical data modelling practices for enterprise-wide data architecture.
- A solid understanding of data governance, master data management, and metadata management best practices.
- Proven collaborator-able to communicate complex architecture concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills, autonomy, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with Agile development practices and dataOps methodologies is a plus.
- Ideally, background or interest in trading, financial services, or commodities sectors.
