Job Introduction

BBC iPlayer is seeking an outstanding operations lead to drive the development of optimal business processes. Reporting to the Head of iPlayer Operations, the role will focus on ensuring that iPlayer teams are planning, collaborating, and sharing information using optimal processes, data, and systems.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support the General Manager, BBC iPlayer, Head of Service Operations, and other stakeholders in defining the optimal iPlayer operating and governance model, considering industry best practice and specific BBC needs.
  • Define the process for annual business planning, cross-departmental planning, prioritization, and information sharing.
  • Take responsibility for defining detailed processes, information sharing, reporting protocols, meeting structures, and cadences needed to implement an improved operational model across all iPlayer teams.
  • Collaborate across teams to define target setting processes for growth initiatives and optimize performance tracking.
  • Define team requirements for data dashboards to support business decisions and work with data and audience teams to deliver and maintain them.
  • Support planning, delivery, and performance tracking of special projects like Live Events and Christmas.
  • Ensure processes are in place for information sharing, planning, and collaboration with stakeholders such as News and Sports, including planning meetings and ensuring outcomes are implemented.
  • Work with the GM to plan iPlayer Quarterly Business Reviews.
  • Define a strategic project tracking system for the iPlayer Leadership Team to stay informed and contribute to key projects and strategies.
  • Support the Head of Ops in defining business processes to improve efficiency, including asset sourcing, sharing, reversioning, and exploring AI opportunities.
  • Lead internal technical training and liaise between Editorial and Growth teams to ensure awareness of system developments and processes.
