About the role
In your role as Investment Valuations Analyst you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset.
This role will provide a great opportunity tosupport the managing of valuation processes and related projects for the Investment Segment of USS, including the performance of valuations (across both illiquid equity and credit interests), as well as the maintenance of the control environment of scheme asset valuations.
What you will be doing
As a trusted part of the Finance you will:
- Oversee and perform quarterly valuations of illiquid equity and credit assets, including preparing reports, reviewing business plans, and defending valuation opinions.
- Manage and coordinate external valuation advisers and the submission of valuation reports to the Fair Value Committee (FVC).
- Attend and present at FVC meetings, providing expertise to support decision-making.
- Supervise and coach junior team members within the valuations function.
- Collaborate with internal departments, including Investment
- Control and Investment Accounting, to communicate key judgments and ensure alignment.
- Lead process improvements, risk reduction initiatives, and implementation of audit recommendations within valuations.
- Manage audit reviews, maintain documentation, and support administrative functions for the Investment Valuations team.
About you

To be successful in the role you will have:
- Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent financial qualification, with strong investment appraisal experience (e.g. CFA).
- Proven experience performing valuations of illiquid equity and credit assets as a core responsibility.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with strong relationship-building ability.
- Experienced in presenting complex information to senior management.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills, including integrated forecasting for large businesses.
- Strong report writing skills with experience drafting valuation reports for diverse audiences.
- Skilled in managing external clients and influencing senior stakeholders internally.
