The IRO Specialist will be a member of the GRM Investment Risk Oversight team responsible for the independent risk oversight (2 LoD) of Capital Group's Europe and Asia portfolios, including long-only UCITS, active ETFs and others . This role will be the key in supporting the senior management and a point of contact for governance groups, Boards and Clients as the person supporting ongoing fiduciary oversight as well as supporting regulatory and/or client demands. This role will have ongoing access to the investment management systems for the purpose of risk oversight and monitoring. It will be integrated globally and will require participation/engagement to global investment risk management related initiatives/queries.

Key responsibilities:
  • Responsible the ongoing and periodic oversight and monitoring of risk and compliance limits with full access to investment-related systems.
  • Responsible for leading/coordinating risk reporting requirements as required from regulators through working with internal groups.
  • Responsible for leading/coordinating client demands relating to investment risk management.
  • Responsible for fully understanding, maintaining and executing the Risk Policy.
  • Develop and provide risk reporting to senior management and oversight forums, including risk committees and boards.
  • Support global investment risk management related initiatives/questions.
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Deep understanding of investment risk management concepts, including market, liquidity, credit and counterparty risk.
  • Familiarity with risk management approach for private markets assets such as private credit and private equity is a plus.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and experience in managing risk management frameworks, in particular investment risk management within an asset management firm.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and ability to independently resolve matters of moderate to high-risk complexity.
  • Demonstrates initiative by identifying issues and recommending comprehensive solutions.
  • Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills with a diverse group of associates and senior business leaders.
  • Demonstrates ability to plan processes and collaborate with a group or team to assure work is completed in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates ability to network and develop/maintain active relationships within and outside of the Group.
  • Demonstrates organizational agility and ability to manage ambiguity.
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and integrity.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently to consistently meet quality and time deadlines.
Core Requirements:
  • 8+ years' experience in risk management and/or risk reporting.
  • Bachelors in quantitative subject such as Economics, Finance, or Statistics is preferable.

  • In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
