Direct Investments Global Institutional Platform Amsterdam
The Firm
Our client is a global Investment Manager and Private Markets investor with long-standing partnerships across the institutional capital landscape. With a mandate to deploy capital across the private equity lifecycle-spanning primary commitments, secondaries, and direct investments-the firm has built a high-conviction, globally diversified portfolio in collaboration with leading sponsors and operators.
Its direct investment strategy focuses on structured access to high-quality private companies-primarily in the mid- and upper mid-market-through differentiated sourcing and disciplined underwriting.
The firm is now expanding its European investment footprint and is looking to hire a high-performing Investment Manager to join its team in Amsterdam.
The Opportunity
This is a strategically exposed role within the private equity team, focused on deploying capital into private companies through direct equity investments and co-investments. The position offers full-lifecycle transaction exposure-from pipeline screening and due diligence through execution, monitoring, and value realisation.
You will work closely with European colleagues and senior decision-makers to underwrite equity investments across sectors, geographies, and transaction types. The role blends the entrepreneurial intensity of direct investing with the institutional scale and long-term orientation of a global allocator.
Key Responsibilities
- Investment Sourcing & Diligence: Support the identification and evaluation of direct investment opportunities, including market mapping, sponsor dialogue, and deal structuring.
- Transaction Execution: Lead workstreams across financial modelling, commercial analysis, diligence coordination, and documentation review.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal committees, external advisors, and senior sponsor teams to manage underwriting and governance processes.
- Portfolio Stewardship: Monitor portfolio company performance and contribute to post-investment value creation initiatives, exit planning, and follow-on capital deployment.
- Internal Projects: Drive internal initiatives related to investment process optimisation, reporting, knowledge sharing, and ESG integration.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking an analytically rigorous and commercially attuned investment professional with a proven track record in evaluating private equity-style transactions.
Key qualifications include:
- 4-8 years of relevant experience in private equity, direct investing, M&A advisory, or a top-tier investment bank or consulting firm;
- Demonstrated exposure to end-to-end deal execution, ideally involving growth equity or buyout investments;
- Strong financial modelling, valuation, and analytical skills; experience with LBOs and equity structuring a plus;
- Clear and concise communication style, with the ability to present investment theses to senior stakeholders;
- International mindset, strong interpersonal skills, and comfort operating in cross-border environments;
- Intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and a pragmatic, low-ego approach to team collaboration.
