Are you detail-oriented, organised, and ready to make a meaningful impact in public service finance? NILGOSC is seeking an Investment Accounting Assistant to help maintain financial records for our pension fund investments.

NILGOSC administers the Local Government Pension Scheme in Northern Ireland. We manage a multi-billion-pound pension fund invested across a wide range of asset classes and have a strong commitment to responsible and diversified investing.

We hold shares in companies worldwide and also hold units in equity funds which are invested in companies that are working to reduce carbon emissions. Other examples of what we invest in include: offshore and onshore wind farms; airports, toll roads, rail networks; healthcare facilities and commercial and residential property across the UK and internationally.

As part of our Finance Team, you'll work closely with the Investment Accountant to ensure accurate financial records and reporting for NILGOSC's diverse investment portfolio. You'll assist with:

  • Preparing weekly, monthly, and quarterly investment reports;
  • Reconciling financial data from third parties;
  • Supporting finance-related projects and system improvements;
  • Organising key documentation including tax records and investment statements.

You don't need to be a financial expert, but you should be good with numbers.

We welcome applicants with:

  • Five GCSE's (grade C+) or equivalents (including English and Maths) AND a higher level qualification, OR a degree (or equivalent) in finance, accounting, economics, or business
  • Experience in an accounts/finance environment
  • Strong Excel skills, and highly numerate and detail focused.

Whether you're looking to build your career in public sector finance or bring private sector experience, we'd love to hear from you.

What you get in return:

  • 21 hour working week over 4-5 days per week (preferably 5 days)
  • flexitime options
  • 23 days annual leave a year and 12 statutory days (pro rata)

  • convenient location with ample on-street parking
  • generous pension and life cover as a member of the NI Local Government Pension Scheme
