Cross Border Wealth is a U.S.-based global investment advisory firm specializing in cross-border financial planning and investment management for U.S.-connected individuals living abroad. Headquartered in New York, with offices across the United States and Asia, we help globally mobile clients navigate the complexities of investing, tax planning, and wealth management across jurisdictions.
As part of our continued international expansion, we are seeking an International Investment Advisor Financial Advisor for our soon-to-open Lisbon, Portugal office.
The International Investment Advisor Financial Advisor will be responsible for developing new client relationships and managing existing clients with U.S.-based private pensions and retirement accounts. This is a client-facing, business development-oriented advisory role that combines financial planning, investment advice, and consultative sales.
This position is ideal for a seasoned financial professional who is comfortable engaging clients remotely, explaining complex cross-border structures, and building long-term relationships in a highly specialized, underserved market.
The firm provides extensive training, qualified leads, and full administrative support, allowing the advisor to focus on client relationships and revenue growth. International applications are welcome.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Client Engagement
- Engage prospective clients via phone, Teams, email, and digital platforms
- Conduct meetings and assess clients' financial and retirement planning needs
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective clients
- Develop referral relationships and long-term client partnerships
Advisory & Planning
- Analyze and review clients' existing financial positions and retirement accounts
- Explain U.S. retirement plans, rollover options, and cross-border considerations clearly and accurately
- Recommend compliant, relevant cross-border investment and planning solutions
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant U.S. and international regulations
Client Onboarding & Servicing
- Work closely with the administrative and operations teams to onboard new clients
- Support ongoing client servicing and relationship management
- Ensure a high level of professionalism, responsiveness, and client satisfaction
Skills and Requirements
Required
- Minimum 10 years of client-facing and sales experience in financial services
- Strong background in financial planning, investment sales, or advisory services
- Excellent phone and virtual communication skills
- High ethical standards and strong attention to detail
- Self-starter with strong time management and organizational skills
- Proficiency with CRM systems (HubSpot or similar)
- Professional-level English fluency
Preferred
- Series 65 license (or ability to obtain)
- CFP or CHFC designation
- Experience with U.S. retirement plans (401(k), IRA, pensions, rollovers)
- International or cross-border advisory experience
- Existing transferable book of business (not required, but a plus)
