THE OPPORTUNITYAs our Internal Communications Business Partner you will be at the heart of how Sumer connects, inspires and informs its people. This is a newly created, high-impact role that sits within Group Hub Support and works closely with the key operational functions - Finance, Technology, Operations, Commercial and People and Culture.
You will be a trusted partner and strategic adviser, helping leaders communicate with clarity, consistency and heart. You'll shape the narratives that bring our strategy to life, champion our culture and values at every touchpoint, and make sure every Sumer colleague - wherever they work is a business champion.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Partnering- Build deep, trusted relationships with senior leaders across key ops functions, acting as their dedicated comms adviser
- Translate business strategy and organisational change into compelling, people-centred narratives that land clearly at every level
- Provide proactive counsel on communication approach, timing, tone and methods
- Act as an early-warning system: spot communication gaps or risks and address them before they become issues.
- Lead the creation of high-quality internal content - all-hands communications, leadership messaging, Partner briefs, intranet articles, videos and more
- Design and deliver integrated internal communications campaigns that drive engagement, reinforce culture and support key business moments
- Bring our values and purpose to life through stories that celebrate our people, our impact and our progress
- Own and develop our internal communications channels, ensuring they are relevant, well-used and continuously improving
- Champion digital-first communication approaches while ensuring no colleague is left behind
- Manage the internal comms calendar, coordinating across functions.
- Partner with the People team to embed our values across key moments in the colleague journey
- Support leadership visibility programmes, helping our senior team show up authentically and consistently
- Use insight and feedback - pulse surveys, listening sessions, engagement data - to inform comms strategy and measure impact.
- Lead communications for organisational change, transformation programmes and significant business announcements
- Support leaders in managing sensitive or complex communications with empathy, care and precision
- Develop playbooks and toolkits that help managers communicate effectively with their own teams.
- Proven internal comms experience in a fast-paced or growth environment
- Outstanding writing and storytelling ability makes complex things clear and compelling
- Track record of partnering with senior stakeholders and influencing without authority
- Deep understanding of employee engagement and how to build culture through communication
- Comfortable leading change communications with empathy and precision
- Highly organised, self-directed and able to manage multiple priorities with ease

- Experience in a scale up or high growth business environment
- Familiarity with comms in operations-heavy or multi site organisations
- Proficiency with digital comms tools (intranets, video platforms, engagement tools)
- Experience designing and measuring communications campaigns
- Background working alongside People/HR functions on culture and engagement
