Overview

Interim Procurement Manager - Home working with attendance in Warrington 1-2 days per week (hybrid). Sector - Engineering led. Inside IR35, paying £400 per day. Initial two-month contract starting 1 August 2026.

Location

The role requires attendance at the Warrington office 1-2 days per week; hybrid working for remaining days.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Procurement and working closely with Group Procurement and divisional stakeholders, you will identify and execute procurement savings and efficiency opportunities, manage supplier relationships and lead sourcing activity. You'll translate business needs into pragmatic procurement plans, embed best practice, drive continuous improvement and support ESG commitments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver procurement savings and cost avoidance opportunities across the division, from opportunity assessment through implementation and benefit realisation.
  • Plan and lead sourcing and negotiation activities to secure favourable commercial terms, cost savings and dependable service levels.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to define requirements, prioritise activity and ensure smooth execution of procurement initiatives.
  • Work closely with the operational procurement team to ensure smooth handover, contract mobilisation and day to day supplier management following contract award.
  • Identify and mitigate supply, commercial and regulatory risks to maintain continuity of supply.
  • Influence and collaborate across the business to secure buy in and ensure procurement objectives are delivered.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven procurement experience with a clear track record of identifying and delivering savings and efficiency initiatives.
  • Experience in sourcing, supplier selection, negotiation and contract management.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills up to senior/executive level.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Practical knowledge of the procurement lifecycle, supplier performance management and commercial risk mitigation.
  • Experience working with operational procurement and cross functional teams to implement procurement initiatives.
Desirable
  • Procurement qualification (e.g. MCIPS).
  • Experience of ERP integrations (e.g. SAP, Oracle).
  • Degree level qualification.
  • Experience embedding sustainability/ESG into procurement decisions.
  • Experience of working in a project based organisation or within design/engineering led businesses.
