Location: Single-Site University Campus (No Travel Required)
Role Overview:We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Interim M&E Building Surveyor to support a comprehensive building survey programme across a large university estate. This is a part-time, fixed-term role ideal for a professional who thrives in a structured yet varied environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct mechanical and electrical condition surveys across a diverse estate of 180 buildings, ranging from small ancillary structures (e.g., bin stores) to complex laboratory facilities.
- Deliver a phased survey programme:
- Year 1: 20 buildings
- Year 2: 80 buildings
- Year 3: 80 buildings
- Assess and document the condition of M&E systems, identifying maintenance needs and repair priorities.
- Collaborate with the Estates team to determine and report on current and projected spend on maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure all surveys are carried out in line with health and safety regulations and university standards.
- Provide clear, actionable reports to inform strategic estate planning and budgeting.
- Proven experience in M&E building surveying, ideally within large or complex estates.
- Strong understanding of building services systems and maintenance requirements.
- Ability to work independently and manage a phased workload over a multi-year programme.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in survey reporting tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working in higher education or public sector estates.
- Knowledge of CAFM systems and asset management planning.
Working Environment:
- Based entirely on a single, self-contained campus-no travel between sites required.
- Flexible part-time schedule with 2-3 days per week on-site presence.
