Interim Fresh & Frozen Strategy Lead

B&M is undertaking a significant strategic review of its Fresh and Frozen proposition across the UK store estate and is seeking an experienced retail leader or consultant to lead this high profile programme. Working alongside the senior leadership team, this role will define the future strategy, operating model, and customer proposition for Fresh and Frozen categories, helping shape a scalable and commercially compelling offer across the business.

This assignment will involve a comprehensive end to end review of category performance, customer proposition, store layout, supply chain, and operational execution. The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with hands on retail expertise to deliver pragmatic, data led recommendations and a clear roadmap for implementation. Experience across grocery, discount, convenience, or food retail environments will be highly valuable.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a strategic review of B&M's Fresh and Frozen categories, assessing proposition, performance, and operational effectiveness
• Define the future role of Fresh & Frozen within the B&M store format, including customer mission, category strategy, and value proposition
• Evaluate store space allocation, layout principles, range architecture, pricing, and promotional approach
• Assess supply chain, replenishment, fulfilment, waste management, and operational execution to identify improvement opportunities
• Conduct competitor benchmarking across UK discount, convenience, and value grocery sectors while leveraging expertise from Heron Foods
• Develop and present strategic recommendations, implementation roadmaps, and supporting business cases to senior leadership stakeholders

What We Are Looking For

• Significant experience within Fresh and/or Frozen food retail categories, ideally within grocery, discount, or convenience retail
• Strong understanding of UK grocery retail operations, supply chains, and category economics
• Proven experience leading strategic reviews, transformation programmes, or operating model redesign initiatives
• Strong commercial and analytical capability with the ability to translate insight into practical execution plans
• Credible stakeholder manager with experience influencing senior leaders across commercial, operations, and supply chain functions
• Pragmatic, collaborative, and delivery focused, with the ability to operate effectively in fast paced and ambiguous environments
