Job Description

An international travel business is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant for a 6-month contract to support their London-based finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical accounting background (Big 4 preferred), excellent process improvement skills, and experience managing full-cycle accounting and audit preparation in a multinational environment.

This is a hands-on, commercially aware role ideal for a contractor who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.

This is a 6 month contracty paying £400 a day inside ir35 DOE with hybrid working available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage full-cycle accounting processes, including month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis across AP, AR, and GL.
  • Oversee financial operations for a dormant subsidiary, including management reporting, statutory returns, and audit compliance.
  • Prepare and submit timely monthly and quarterly financial reports in compliance with company policies and relevant accounting standards.
  • Prepare quarterly GST filings, tax computations, and deferred tax entries.
  • Monitor and produce monthly cash flow reports and forecasts; track receivables and payables.
  • Review journals and supporting schedules produced by the GL shared service centre.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost recovery strategy development for shared services and centralized assets.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate tax, audit, and statutory obligations, liaising with external tax agents, auditors, and corporate secretaries.
  • Assist with integration projects and drive continuous improvements in financial processes and system efficiency.
  • Respond to internal stakeholder queries and participate in cross-functional projects as required.
Requirements:
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent), with post-qualification experience.
  • Big 4 trained or experience in audit/accounting at a top-tier professional services firm (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of statutory reporting, tax compliance, and Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Proven ability to work across multinational teams and support multiple legal entities.
  • Experience with SAP or large ERP systems (advantageous).
  • Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage internal and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Proactive and adaptable, with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
