Job Description
Interim Finance Manager position - 3 Days Per Week We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Finance Professional to provide financial leadership within a forward-thinking charity operating in the education sector. This is a hands-on role that combines strategic reporting with operational delivery. You will play a key role in ensuring financial sustainability, improving financial performance, and supporting informed decision-making across the organisation. This would be an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to make a meaningful impact while contributing to the continued success of an organisation with a strong social purpose.Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide financial leadership and act as a trusted adviser to the Senior Leadership Team and Board of Trustees.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, financial modelling and performance reporting to support organisational strategy.
- Ensure timely delivery of key management information, reporting, forecasting processes and financial analysis to support effective decision-making.
- Ensure financial governance, statutory compliance, regulatory reporting and the preparation of statutory accounts.
- Maximise the effective use of technology to ensure efficiency and compliance.
- Oversee the daily activities of a small Finance Team while providing financial guidance and support across the wider organisation.
- Build effective relationships with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, auditors, HMRC and professional advisers.
- An Accounting Qualification is preferable but not a pre-requisite.
- Previous finance leadership experience, able to support other team members with their duties and responsibilities.
- Strong commercial, operational and strategic finance expertise with experience of financial planning, reporting and governance.
- Experience of working in a finance role within a not-for-profit/charity organisation preferred.
- Experience overseeing financial controls, forecasting, management information and finance processes.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to a wide range of stakeholders.
- A collaborative, hands-on leadership style with sound judgement, integrity and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of charity SORP and VAT would be advantageous.
