Milk Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and ambitious primary school in North London to recruit an experienced Interim Deputy Headteacher to start as soon as possible, supporting the school through to July 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled senior leader who is passionate about improving outcomes for pupils and supporting staff to deliver high-quality teaching and learning.

The Role

Working closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, the Deputy Headteacher will play a key role in the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the school. The successful candidate will help drive school improvement, maintain high expectations across the school community, and ensure the best outcomes for all pupils.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the strategic vision and leadership of the school
• Leading on teaching and learning, curriculum development and assessment
• Monitoring pupil progress and using data to drive improvement
• Supporting and developing middle leaders, ECTs and teaching staff
• Leading initiatives to raise attainment, including pupil premium provision
• Contributing to school self-evaluation and improvement planning
• Acting as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
• Taking responsibility for the school in the absence of the Headteacher

The role is largely non-class based, though there may be occasional teaching responsibilities to support standards across the school.

We are looking for a candidate who:

• Has substantial senior leadership experience within a primary school
• Demonstrates strong knowledge of curriculum, assessment and school improvement
• Has experience monitoring teaching and learning and analysing progress data
• Is a confident leader who can motivate and develop staff
• Has a strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
