Intelligence information comes in many formats and making sense of these formats is a critical task for our Intelligence Assistants.
As an Intelligence Assistant your role is to make use of information that comes to us through a variety of sources, for example from members of the public, witnesses and suspects.
You will need:
We're looking for people with the ability to identify relevant information and draw logical conclusions from written information, able to spot potential patterns and connections across difference sources of information and data.
You will be a natural problem solver and confident when making decisions.
A background in Intelligence or specific qualifications are not required to be successful in this role.
The role:
As part of a friendly and supportive team, you will be collating, evaluating and sharing intelligence information to support our policing priorities and play a key role in ensuring that staff and officers are provided with the intelligence they need to protect vulnerable people and investigate crime.
Gathering detail and analysing data from intelligence reports and statements will help make an informed decision on the threat risk and appropriate form of action using the National Intelligence Model.
Key responsibilities:
Intelligence Force Processing Team
- Processing and assessing intelligence reports that have come into police systems and mailboxes.
- Checking that the details have been inputted correctly and updating police systems accordingly.
- Conducting basic research, evaluate the information and make decisions regarding course of action.
- Act as initial point of contact for other forces, agencies and internal departments.
Skills required for the role:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Highly motivated and able to work both on your own and as part of a team.
Shift Patterns and location:
Intelligence Force Processing Team
- 3 week rolling shift pattern that provides covering between 08:00-18:00 Monday to Friday. This consists of 2 weeks working 08:00-16:00 and 1 week working 10:00-18:00. This role is blended between office working at Police HQ, Portishead and home working. You will be required to work at Police Headquarters, Portishead for a minimum of 2 days per week.
Additional information:
To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 5 year checkable history in the UK ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 5 years.

The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, which will be a police premises. The successful applicant will have the option to discuss working arrangements with their line manager. All applicants must reside within the UK.
