Job Description - Inside Sales Representative - Morrison Express


  • Prepare quotations for ocean import, export and cross-trade shipments.
  • Prepare quotations for air import, export and cross-trade shipments.
  • Prepare network quotations for air/ocean import, export and cross-trade shipments.
  • Actively negotiate buying rates with Logistics Service Providers (ocean carriers, airlines, trucking companies, warehouse operators, etc.) to ensure the best available rates for Morrison.
  • Retrieve feedback from customers and Morrison internal offices about the quotations issued.
  • Maintain quotation records to measure the quotation success ratio per office and customer.
  • Effectively and proactively communicate between the customer, outside sales and MEC's customer service teams to advise newly secured shipments that can be taken over by the customer service departments. As inside sales representative you are a spider in the web and act as a team player to solve problems proactively.
  • Strengthen the relationship with customers by understanding the customer's service requirements, character and preferred communication style. Act in a professional manner to maximize the potential opportunities with customers.
  • Prepare internal system quotation (Prolink) for effective billing processing.
  • Conduct market analysis (internet, Panjiva, JOC, trade magazines, other sources) to identify possible target industries and customers.
  • Conduct cold call sales calls and schedule appointments for outside sales staff to further introduce Morrison.
  • Support outside sales to prepare presentations and/or other marketing materials.
  • Provide outside sales with customer shipping statistics when requested.
  • Prepare the sales desk 'internal cost' allocation overview to the respective offices and communicate this to accounting on monthly basis.
  • Actively engage in own sales development to generate gross margin targets based on expansion of gross margins from assigned existing accounts or actively developing new accounts.
  • Follow-up on other tasks if requested by the management team.
