Infrastructure Solution Architect
Role Overview
The Infrastructure Solution Architect is responsible for designing secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure solutions aligned to enterprise standards, security policies, and regulatory requirements. This role bridges business requirements and technical implementation by producing clear architecture designs and governing solutions from concept through delivery.
The architect will own High Level Designs (HLDs), Low Level Designs (LLDs), and Integration Documentation, ensuring solutions are well-defined, buildable, supportable, and compliant primary on the banks on-premise network.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Design
Design end-to-end infrastructure solutions in line with enterprise architecture standards, security policies, and regulatory controls.
Produce and maintain High Level Designs (HLDs) that articulate solution architecture, patterns, dependencies, and technology choices.
Produce detailed Low Level Designs (LLDs) that enable engineering teams to build, configure, and deploy solutions consistently and securely.
Create and maintain Integration Design Documentation, detailing interfaces, data flows, authentication, encryption, certificates, and dependencies across systems and platforms.
Ensure designs address non-functional requirements including availability, scalability, performance, resiliency, security, and operability.
Stakeholder & Delivery Engagement
Translate business requirements into clear and achievable solution requirements.
Work closely with application teams, security, operations, vendors, and delivery partners throughout the design and implementation life cycle.
Provide architectural guidance throughout delivery, ensuring solutions align to approved HLDs and LLDs.
Influence and continuously improve infrastructure design standards, patterns, and governance processes.
Standards, Governance & Reuse
Promote and develop reusable design patterns and reference architectures.
Ensure alignment with cloud, on-premises, and hybrid architecture standards.
Contribute to technology roadmaps and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Skills & Technical Expertise
Infrastructure & Platforms
Strong experience architecting solutions across:
Compute, storage, and networking
Virtualisation platforms (eg VMware)
Openshift & Kubernetes
General Dev ops, (CI/CD Pipelines/Jenkins/GITHUB etc.)
Security, Identity & Cryptography
Strong understanding of the following:
Role Based Access Controls (RBAC) Model
TLS/SSL, encryption in transit and at rest
Integration of certificates with applications, platforms, and cloud services
Experience working within secure enterprise and regulated environments.
Network Security (Zero Trust Model)
Essential Skills
Proven experience designing secure, resilient infrastructure solutions within large enterprises or regulated environments (eg financial services).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design solutions with incomplete or evolving requirements.
Deep technical knowledge across multiple infrastructure domains.
Ability to prioritise effectively and adapt quickly to changing business needs.
Collaborative, professional, and accountable approach to delivery.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
Relevant third-level qualification or equivalent practical experience.
Experience operating in banking, financial services, or large blue chip organisations.
Demonstrated experience influencing architecture standards and governance processes.
Experience working closely with engineering, operations, and security teams.
