Infrastructure Engineer (Application packaging)

On behalf of DWP, we are looking for an Infrastructure engineer (Application packager) for a 6 month (Inside IR35) contract based Hybrid in Manchester.
As an Application Packaging engineer you'll be part of a team responsible for the technical discovery, packaging and deployment of software via SCCM and Intune.
You'll collaborate with senior engineers and package to the standards of the DWP Infrastructure Development Lifecycle Process contributing to delivery across one or more products.
SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.
As an Application Packaging engineer your main responsibilities will be:
. Infrastructure Delivery & Improvement.
. Discover and implement Line of Business applications.
. Package and deploy software via SCCM and Intune to controlled test environments.
. Complete and baseline technical documentation.
. Peer review and sign off colleague's work.
. Make operational decisions on day-to-day management of services/solutions.
. Infrastructure Support, provide 3rd line support for incidents, problems and changes.
. Analyse and resolve technical issues using varied techniques to improve performance and offer technical support and assistance.
Essential:
. Experience in Packaging applications and the ability to use packaging and virtualisation techniques.
. SCCM.
. Microsoft AppV5 and MSI packaging.
. Good understanding of Powershell Scripting.
. Intune wrapping and deployment.
. Familiarity with Entra ID (Azure AD).
Desirable:
. Previous experience in a government department.
. Experience with packaging and deployment tools such as MSIX and PSADT (PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit).
. Familiarity with environment and endpoint management platforms like Citrix, Ivanti or AppSense.
. Understanding of security and configuration tools including AppLocker and Windows Defender.
. Exposure to automation and integration using MSGraph API (for Intune and Microsoft 365 services).
