Are you looking to take your first step into a professional office role? Would you like to work in a team that plays a vital part in protecting information, supporting transparency, and ensuring the Council meets its legal responsibilities?

What you'll do:

As an Administrative Officer, you will provide essential support to the Information Governance Team and help ensure the Council meets its statutory and corporate obligations. You will be trained to:

  • Log, track and manage requests made under the Freedom of Information Act (FOI), Environmental Information Regulations (EIR), and Data Protection legislation, including Subject Access Requests (SARs)
  • Log and allocate Local Government & Social Care Ombudsman (LGSCO) complaints and assist with general data protection enquiries and incident administration
  • Use case management systems and SharePoint sites to record, track and update progress on statutory requests
  • Collate, maintain, and quality check data to support the team's reporting responsibilities
  • Assist the IG Manager in preparing performance reports, dashboards, and compliance statistics by gathering and organising relevant data
  • Provide administrative support to the Information Governance Management Group (IGMG) including:
    • Preparing agendas and circulating papers
    • Taking and producing accurate minutes
    • Tracking actions and supporting follow up activity
  • Support the ongoing maintenance of:
    • The Council's Record of Processing Activities (ROPA)
    • The Corporate Services Information Asset Register
    • The Council's Open Data publication commitments
  • Assist Information Asset Owners and Services with updates, ensuring records are complete and accurate
  • Communicate professionally with internal colleagues and, where appropriate, members of the public
  • Manage shared mailbox enquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses
  • Maintain accurate digital records and support the overall smooth running of the service
