Job Description

Industrial Engineering Designer

North Greenwich

Long term Contract

£18 - £21 per hour PAYE

£20 - £27 per hour LTD

Ensure Industrialisation and introduction of new high reliability products into production

To define and design new tooling and equipment to simplify the assembly of Optical/ Electrical products in production and aid reduction of build times.

Responsibilities include:
  • Working with Industrial and Research & Development Engineers in the design and Industrialisation of new products.
  • Propose new tooling concepts that can simplify assembly operations and ensures reliable and consistent build methods.
  • Propose alternative tooling solutions to address various assembly requirement.
  • Provide Powerpoint presentation for new tooling concepts.
  • Design tooling using Creo CAD package to the required specification for quotation, manufacture and 3D modeling.
  • Use of Creo CAD package in line with company procedure.
  • Working with Tooling Manufactures to answer any technical questions promptly and professionally. Ensuring on time delivery of tooling.
  • Define the calibration period & inspection requirement for each tooling. Maintain in-house maintenance databases where applicable.
  • Validation of new tooling on various mechanical model to ensure they are fit for purpose.
  • Training of Operators in the use of new tooling and build processes.
  • Part of the IED Team to oversee the build of qualification models, ensuring correct build method and correct use of new tooling.
  • Understand and comply with the clean area environmental rules. Adhere to mandatory Quality and Safety procedures, including build documentation, ESD, Risk assessments, COSHH and Manual Handling regulations.
  • Writing of build Specifications for new products, ensuring operations are carried out in the correct sequence and use of correct tooling.
Education/qualifications/experience:

Mechinical Engineering Degree.

Experience working with Creo CAD package.

  • Ability to make reliability engineering judgements under pressure
  • Experience in a technical and/or manufacturing environment
  • Organised, disciplined & methodical approach to problem solving
  • Motivated with strong interpersonal & team skills
  • Sound practical experience with Excel and Word.
  • Work experience with SAP
