Job Description
Solicitor - Housing Law
- Location: Dorset (Hybrid role based on service demands)
- Salary: Grade 5 - £37,739 or Grade 6 - £43,338 per annum (depending on experience)
- Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week
- Contract: Permanent
Join our mission to drive systemic change and fight for justice in housing. We are seeking a dedicated Solicitor with a strong commitment to addressing the housing crisis. This role offers the opportunity to transform lives and challenge the systems that perpetuate injustice, playing a central role in our mission to defend the right to a safe and secure home.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Deliver high-quality legal services through casework, ensuring Legal Aid contract requirements and performance targets are met.
- Identify test case opportunities to address systemic bad practice and achieve change for a greater number of people.
- Work closely with the Managing Solicitor and the Dorset Hub to strengthen housing rights awareness across the region.
- Provide legal advice and representation under our Legal Aid contract, including at Bournemouth and Weymouth County Courts.
- Challenge unfair housing practices and systemic causes of homelessness through strategic casework and litigation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified Solicitor - open to newly qualified candidates with a demonstrable interest in social justice, as well as those with 3+ years PQE in housing law and Legal Aid work.
- Ability to deliver high-quality legal advice and representation.
- Experience in challenging unfair housing practices and addressing systemic causes of homelessness.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with the Dorset Hub team and support Trainee Solicitors and Legal Advisers.
