In-House Legal Counsel

THE ROLE

As an integral part of our senior management team, the In-House Counsel is tasked with providing expert legal guidance and support to ensure our operations align with all applicable laws and regulations.

This position requires a robust understanding of contract law, contract negotiation, and risk management.

We are looking for a confident lawyer who can work independently and advise on a variety of matters when needed. Someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is adept at handling complex legal issues with a high degree of professionalism.

MAIN DUTIES

1. Providing legal advice and guidance to the board and other company departments.
2. Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and other legal documents.
3. Ensuring compliance with legal regulations.
4. Managing and coordinating with external legal counsel as needed and representing the company on debt collection and other legal matters.
5. Conducting legal research and staying updated on changes in laws that may affect the company.
6. Overseeing corporate governance and ensuring adherence to corporate policies.
7. Advising on mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions.
8. Working with the Compliance Manager to ensure full compliance with GDPR regulations.
9. Developing and implementing legal strategies to protect the company's interests.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS

1. 3-5 years post-qualification experience in the UK, ideally.
2. Strong background in contract law.
3. Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
4. Proficiency in legal research tools and software.

HOURS

Three days based at Head Office Exeter.
