As our landscape shifts, we are moving towards a strategic HR Business Partnering model that will move our HR professionals beyond administrative tasks to position our Workforce team as "Strategic Partners" and "Change Agents".

We are looking for two experienced HR Business Partners (one temporary for up to 2 years and one permanent) to join our Workforce team and play a key role in shaping a positive, high performing culture at Gedling. Working closely with senior leaders and managers, you'll provide strategic HR support, drive organisational effectiveness, and help ensure our people have the environment and support they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with managers to understand business priorities and translate them into effective people strategies.
  • Lead on organisational change, workforce planning, and talent development initiatives.
  • Provide expert guidance on employee relations, performance management, and engagement.
  • Use people data and insights to influence decision-making and improve outcomes.
  • Coach and develop managers to build capability and confidence.
  • Ensure HR policies and practices are compliant, fair, and aligned with our values.
About You
  • Substantial experience in an HR Business Partner or HR generalist role which includes experience of TUPE and complex conduct/grievance case management/resolution.
  • Confident working with senior stakeholders and influencing at all levels.
  • Solid understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • A proactive, solutions focused approach with the ability to balance strategic and hands on work.
  • Excellent communication, relationship building, and problem solving skills.
  • Member/Corporate Member of the CIPD or qualified through experience.

Relevant Experience
  • (E) (A/I) Substantial experience as a generalist HR Business Partner.
  • (E) (A/I/T) Significant experience in managing complex employment relations cases (conduct/ capability/ grievances, TUPE, etc.).
  • (E) (A/I/T) Substantial experience of advising and coaching managers at all levels.
  • (E) (A/I) Experience of creating training content and delivery.
  • (E) (A/I) Experience in the use of computer based performance management systems or HR systems.
  • (E) (A/I) Experience of undertaking successful HR projects.
  • (E) (A/I) Experience of HR policy development and implementation.
  • (D) (A/I) Previous experience of HR work in a local government setting.
Qualifications / Training
  • (E) (A/I) Five GCSE passes at grade C or above or comparable academic qualification including Maths and English.
  • (E) (A/I) Member/Corporate Member of the CIPD or qualified through experience.
  • (E) (A/I) Sound track record of continuous professional development in a range of HR/employment law areas to keep up to date.
