Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Specialist

Location: Dublin Area, Ireland (Hybrid)

The Opportunity

An international technology and engineering organization operating in the energy and infrastructure sector is seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Specialist to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of its HSE management systems.

The organization is involved in delivering innovative solutions that support the energy transition and serve high-growth sectors such as sustainable energy, digital infrastructure, industrial electrification, and advanced transportation. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening the company's safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving operational excellence across multiple projects and sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and programs in line with corporate standards and applicable legislation.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with HSE requirements.
  • Lead incident, accident, and near-miss investigations, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Deliver and support HSE training initiatives to enhance awareness, engagement, and best practices across the organization.
  • Advise leadership teams on HSE performance, regulatory developments, and emerging operational risks.
  • Prepare and present HSE reports, metrics, and compliance documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage HSE records, permits, and documentation to ensure audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
  • Work closely with project teams, contractors, and external partners to integrate HSE requirements throughout project lifecycles.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing safety performance, environmental stewardship, and organizational culture.
Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in a dedicated HSE role, ideally within energy, construction, engineering, manufacturing, or other industrial environments.
  • Professional HSE certification such as NEBOSH Diploma, NCRQ Diploma, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish health, safety, and environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and managing HSE management systems, including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 frameworks.
  • Proven ability to conduct incident investigations, risk assessments, and root cause analyses.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence teams at all organizational levels.
  • Strong organizational skills and proficiency with standard business software applications.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project and operational sites as required.
