Are you an experienced payroll professional looking to develop your career within a supportive and specialist team? We are looking for an HR Payroll Officer to join our dedicated Payroll & Reward team, delivering a high-quality, end-to-end payroll service across the Council.
This is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract with hybrid working available, including a minimum of 2 days per week based at the Civic Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while providing expert support and advice on payroll matters.
Key Responsibilities- Process monthly and supplementary payrolls, including BACS, costing and reporting
- Resolve a wide range of payroll queries from employees and managers
- Produce payroll reports and support auditing and compliance activities
- Calculate statutory payments, deductions and emergency payments
- Support pay awards, system updates and continuous payroll improvements
- Deliver excellent customer service across multiple communication channels
- Work collaboratively within the Payroll & Reward team to maintain high service standards
- Proven experience working within a payroll environment
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and payroll processes
- Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
- Confident communication and customer service skills
- The ability to manage workloads effectively and meet deadlines
- A Level 3 Payroll qualification or higher
