Job Description

HR Officer (Temporary, Full-Time)

Location: Hybrid Working (3 days office, 2 days home)

Base Office: Stockton-on-Tees

Contract: Temporary Assignment

Duration: Initial 3 months (potential to extend or become permanent)

Hours: 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday to Friday

Salary: Circa £32,000 FTE (£16.50 per hour, REED PAYE)

We are delighted to be supporting a leading charitable organisation in the recruitment of an HR Officer to join their People & Culture team on a temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR professional to provide a high-quality, generalist HR service, supporting managers and employees across a broad range of people-related activities.

Working closely with the Head of People & Culture, you will provide HR advice and guidance across the employee lifecycle, supporting recruitment, employee relations, wellbeing initiatives, workforce reporting and policy implementation.

The Role

As HR Officer, you will play a key role in delivering an efficient and customer-focused HR service, ensuring best practice, compliance and a positive employee experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing HR advice and guidance to managers and employees
  • Supporting employee relations cases, including absence, disciplinary, grievance and performance matters
  • Coordinating recruitment and onboarding activities
  • Maintaining accurate employee records, HR systems and documentation
  • Supporting probation, appraisal and performance review processes
  • Producing workforce reports and HR management information
  • Maintaining HR trackers, logs and people data
  • Supporting payroll changes and ensuring data accuracy
  • Assisting with wellbeing initiatives and staff engagement activity
  • Delivering inductions, HR guidance and training sessions
  • Supporting HR projects, policy reviews and continuous improvement initiatives

About You:

We are looking for a confident and organised HR professional with experience in a busy generalist HR environment.

You will bring:

  • Experience in an HR Officer, HR Advisor or Generalist HR role
  • Knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice
  • Experience managing or supporting employee relations cases
  • Recruitment and onboarding experience
  • Strong understanding of the employee lifecycle
  • Experience producing HR reports and workforce data
  • Excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience handling confidential employee information
  • CIPD qualification, or working towards it, would be advantageous
