Job Description

Quandela is Europe's leader in photonic quantum computing. We design and deliver high-performance quantum processors-available on-premise or via cloud access-to enable organizations to explore quantum advantage in optimization, simulation, and machine learning.

As adoption accelerates, we are expanding our technical organization with a senior HPC & Quantum Solutions Architect who will guide customers in designing next-generation hybrid HPC-quantum infrastructures.

As an HPC & Quantum Solutions Architect at Quandela, you will define and design end-to-end hybrid architectures that seamlessly integrate quantum computing into complex HPC environments.

You will partner with enterprise, HPC centers, and research institutions to shape technical strategy, architect hybrid workflows, and provide deep technical leadership across presales, solution design, deployment, and early adoption.

This role is ideal for a senior architect with strong HPC expertise, systems thinking, customer-facing skills, and a passion for emerging quantum technologies.

Key Responsibilities 1. Customer Architecture Leadership
  • Lead in-depth technical discovery with HPC centers, industry R&D teams, national labs, and enterprise architecture groups.
  • Assess existing HPC infrastructures, workloads, data flows, interconnects, and operational constraints.
  • Identify hybrid HPC-quantum opportunities and propose strategic architectures aligned with customer objectives.
2. Hybrid HPC-Quantum Architecture Design
  • Architect end-to-end solutions integrating Quandela's photonic quantum processors, control electronics, networks, simulators, cloud services, and on-prem orchestration.
  • Define system sizing, performance models, workload placement strategies, and hybrid workflow pipelines.
  • Produce high-quality architecture documents, diagrams, and design specifications for decision-makers and technical stakeholders.
3. Technical Strategy & Advisory
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to CTOs, HPC leaders, and scientific teams on hybrid computing strategy, roadmaps, and operational models.
  • Recommend integration patterns (Slurm, Kubernetes, PBS), networking designs (InfiniBand, Ethernet), and accelerator strategies.
  • Guide customers through infrastructure readiness, security considerations, and operationalization.
4. Advanced Prototyping, Benchmarks & POCs
  • Design and oversee proof-of-concepts, benchmarks, and technical evaluations demonstrating hybrid performance gains.
  • Work with HPC and application engineers to build custom workflows and domain-specific demos.
  • Support pilot deployments-including on-premise quantum installations and hybrid cloud integrations.
5. Enablement & Best Practices
  • Train HPC teams and scientific users on Quandela's SDK, simulators, cloud platform, and hybrid programming models.
  • Produce architecture guides, playbooks, and technical reference materials for customers and partners.
  • Contribute to building technical blueprints and reusable architectures for repeatable deployments.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to feed customer needs into the roadmap.
  • Partner with Sales to support technical qualification, RFP responses, and executive discussions.
  • Contribute to standards, reference architectures, and interoperability initiatives with ecosystem partners.
Technical Skills
  • 7+ years of experience in HPC architecture, scientific computing, HPC integration, or large-scale distributed systems.
  • Deep understanding of:
    • HPC schedulers and orchestration (Slurm, PBS, Kubernetes)
    • High-speed interconnects (InfiniBand, Ethernet), MPI, and parallel computing
    • Linux systems engineering and cluster networking
    • Python for scientific workflows and automation
    • Accelerator design and integration (GPUs, AI accelerators, FPGAs)
  • Familiarity with quantum computing concepts, hybrid workflows, or quantum SDKs (a strong plus).
Architecture & Customer-Facing Skills
  • Proven experience designing end-to-end HPC or hybrid architectures for enterprise or research environments.
  • Ability to engage at both high-level architectural strategy and deep technical implementation detail.
  • Experience leading:
    • Workload assessments
    • Architecture design sessions
    • Technical workshops
    • POCs and performance benchmarks
  • Strong technical writing skills (architecture docs, RFP/RFI responses, design proposals).
  • Ability to present confidently to technical experts and executive stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel across Europe for workshops, on-site assessments, and deployments.
Soft Skills
  • Excellent communication, structure, and clarity-both written and verbal.
  • Systems-thinking mindset and strong analytical problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable working autonomously in exploratory or fast-evolving technical contexts.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-impact projects in parallel.
  • Curious, proactive, and motivated to learn quantum computing, photonic technologies, and hybrid HPC workflows.
  • Able to build trust with demanding technical stakeholders and operate in multidisciplinary teams.

Shape the frontier of hybrid HPC-quantum computing with Europe's photonic quantum pioneer.

Work closely with global technology, scientific, and industrial partners.

Join a high-impact, multidisciplinary team where your architectural decisions directly influence the future of quantum adoption.

Enjoy a flexible, international, innovation-driven environment.

If you want to architect the next generation of hybrid HPC-quantum computing infrastructures and work directly with the organizations pioneering this transformation, we'd love to hear from you.
