Job Description
Housing Options Co-ordinator / Administrator

Location: Godalming.
Contract: 6 month.
Salary: £18 - £19 per hour.
Car driver required.
Role start: August or September 2026.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support for the Housing Options Specialist and RSI teams, including accurate and timely note taking, document uploads, letter issuance.
  • Assist the outreach team with rough sleeper support.
  • Make emergency accommodation bookings, raise and send invoices, help clients complete benefit forms.
  • Handle telephone and reception enquiries for the Housing Options Specialist and RSI teams, giving accurate and lawful initial housing options advice, preventing or relieving homelessness, and signposting appropriately.
  • Participate in the floating support service (tenancy sustainment) with clients residing in the community.
  • Deal with initial customer enquiries to the housing options team by phone, email and in person, focusing on survivors of domestic abuse and customers at risk of rough sleeping.
  • Obtain and record customer details, conduct Housing Act 1996 Part VII initial assessments, provide lawful advice, and determine escalation for full housing assessment.
  • Provide comprehensive office administration: manage phone calls, maintain accurate records, organise, scan, and check paper records and electronic software.
  • Administer booking of emergency accommodation during severe weather periods, prepare and upload all associated documentation, and raise/sales invoices.
  • Assist with registration of housing register applications, focusing on SWEP clients and domestic abuse survivors.
  • Cover for other administrative staff within Specialist Housing Options and RSI teams.
  • Carry out duties specified by the Specialist Housing Options Manager, supporting other housing teams as required.

Dimensions of the Role (weekly unless stated)
  • 10 enquiries from external customers for housing options advice.
  • 5 floating support visits each week.
  • 5 contacts with customers per week regarding their payment arrangements to the Council.
  • 3 housing register applications processed.
  • During SWEP periods: 5 emergency accommodation bookings, 5 invoices raised, 5 invoices paid.
  • Ongoing document organisation and indexing.

  • Ensure public funds are used to support those in greatest need.
