This is a Permanent , Full Time vacancy.

The Vacancy

  • Location: St Peter & St James Hospice, BN8 4ED
  • Contract Type: Full-time, permanent
  • Weekly working hours: 37.5 hours (Monday - Friday with occasional weekends)
  • Shift times: Working hours can be flexible between 9.00am - 5.00pm and 10.30am - 6.30pm
  • Closing date: We will be shortlisting and interviewing as applications are received, so early applications are encouraged.

Driving is not essential for this role; however, due to our rural location and lack of direct public transport links, candidates must have reliable access to suitable transport to attend work as required.

As Housekeeping Assistant, you'll play a vital role in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene across our hospice, ensuring a safe and comforting space for patients, families, and staff.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Cleaning patient rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, and offices to a high standard.
  • Using a variety of cleaning methods and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ensuring waste is disposed of correctly and infection control procedures are followed.
  • Maintaining patient dignity and privacy at all times.
  • Supporting the wider team in creating a warm, respectful, and inclusive environment.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience in housekeeping or cleaning roles.
  • Good literacy, numeracy, and understanding of health and safety.
  • A flexible, can-do attitude and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organised and able to work to deadlines.
  • A commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.
