Job Description

Main area House Keeper Grade NHS AfC: Band 2 Contract Permanent. This is a flexible role to cover full-time hours and part-time hours and weekends, up to 37.5 hours per week. Job ref 372-SURG2101-A.

Employer: Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. Salary: £25,272 per annum (pro rata). Closing 22/05/:59.

Job Overview

We require a caring, highly motivated ward housekeeper to join our team. You will possess excellent communication skills, work well as part of a team and work in an extremely busy and challenging environment. This role on the ward will be over a 7 day week including weekends.

We are open to flexible working arrangements including part time, job-share, flexible hours and the possibility to work from home when appropriate.

Responsibilities
  • Perform weekly stock checks and more often as necessary.
  • Order materials and stock for the ward.
  • Fill up linen cupboard.
  • Assist with drinks and food and order meals daily for patients.
  • Keep the ward tidy.
  • Escalate any issues to the correct people.
  • Work with a wide team of health professionals.
  • Maintain professionalism at all times.
  • Follow the trust values.
  • Order meals for patients when required and liaise with kitchen.
Person Specification Education and Training
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3.
  • Training in Food Hygiene.
  • Expert literacy skills.
  • Practical skills - able to organise own workload as part of a team, ensure tidiness, cleanliness of ward and efficiency.
  • Physically able to fulfil all physical requirements of the post with occupational health clearance.
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK.
  • Have an awareness of trust policies and protocols.
Knowledge, Experience and Expertise
  • Experience of organising a work area.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting.

DBS Check - you may be required to undertake a DBS. The Trust will administer the check and recover the cost (Enhanced £54.40, Standard £26.40 or Basic £26.40) from your salary when you commence in post. You will also be required to participate in the DBS Update Service and pay the £16 cost per year. This is a condition of your employment.
