Job Description
Senior Quantity Surveyor - Highways

You'll play a key role on some of the UK's busiest motorway schemes. As Senior Quantity Surveyor in the Highways team, you'll manage multiple NEC contracts on the M25, enjoy a hybrid working pattern and have clear scope to progress your career with a Tier 1 contractor.

Why this opportunity could suit you
  • Work across a portfolio of live M25 schemes, not just a single project.
  • Enjoy a salary of £55,000-£65,000 (depending on experience and level) plus car allowance and benefits.
  • Benefit from a hybrid pattern, typically 2-3 days a week in the Dartford or Hatfield offices and on site.
  • Be trusted to take commercial ownership, with support from an experienced commercial leadership team.
  • Step into a Senior Quantity Surveyor position if you're currently a strong QS ready for the next move.
What you'll be doing

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple schemes including:

  • Taking full commercial ownership of allocated projects under NEC contracts.
  • Preparing and managing cost forecasts, CVRs and cashflow.
  • Managing subcontract procurement, negotiation, administration and final accounts.
  • Leading change management, including early warnings and compensation events.
  • Preparing, submitting and agreeing applications for payment and variations.
  • Supporting project teams with commercial advice and contract compliance.
  • Liaising with client representatives and internal stakeholders to maintain strong relationships.
  • Providing guidance and informal mentoring to more junior commercial staff where required.
What you will bring
  • Experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or as an experienced Quantity Surveyor ready to step up.
  • Strong background in highways or civil engineering projects.
  • Proven experience working under NEC forms of contract (essential).
  • Experience with Tier 1 main contractors preferred.
  • Good commercial acumen with the ability to manage multiple schemes concurrently.
  • Confident communication skills and a collaborative way of working with site and client teams.
Package and rewards
  • Salary in the region of £55,000-£65,000 per annum, depending on experience and level.
  • Car allowance plus expenses for business travel.
  • A comprehensive benefits package (including pension and other flexible benefits).
  • Hybrid working with a balance of office, site and home working.
  • Support with professional development and qualifications where relevant.
