About the Role

Are you an exceptional Higher Level Teaching Assistant who wants to do more than support learning in the classroom?

At Hemlock Stone School, we're a new and growing special school looking for a passionate, creative and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Enrichment Support to join our specialist autism setting.

We're looking for someone who believes in every young person's potential, who can challenge and inspire them, and who is excited by the opportunity to help students discover a genuine love of learning.

This is not your typical HLTA role.

You'll have the opportunity to lead exciting enrichment activities, deliver engaging learning experiences and targeted interventions, and help students discover passions, interests and talents they may never have had the opportunity to explore before.

Whether it's organising an educational visit, introducing a new activity or helping a student overcome a challenge, you'll play an important part in broadening horizons and creating experiences that build confidence, independence and resilience.

Working as part of a skilled and supportive multidisciplinary team, you'll build meaningful relationships with students and colleagues, helping young people develop the skills they need to thrive both in school and beyond.

Every day will bring new challenges, new opportunities and the chance to make a lasting difference to young lives.

If you're an experienced Teaching Assistant or HLTA who loves thinking creatively, taking the initiative and making learning exciting, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Bring learning to life by planning, coordinating and delivering creative enrichment activities, educational visits and off-site learning experiences.
  • Help students discover new interests, introducing opportunities that encourage curiosity, build confidence and develop independence.
  • Lead engaging learning activities and interventions, delivering planned lessons and providing classroom cover under the direction of a teacher.
  • Create safe and inclusive experiences, ensuring activities are appropriately risk assessed and adapted to meet individual needs.
  • Support every student's development, tailoring learning approaches to meet a range of autism-related, communication, emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Build meaningful relationships, encouraging positive behaviour, resilience, social interaction and a sense of achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and specialist professionals, monitoring progress, contributing to individual support plans and sharing effective approaches.
  • Help shape our growing school community, supporting and mentoring colleagues while bringing fresh ideas to enrichment and learning opportunities.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who brings energy, imagination and a genuine belief that every young person deserves the opportunity to explore their interests and achieve their potential.

You'll need to bring:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA).
  • Experience supporting educational trips, visits and enrichment activities, with the confidence to help plan and coordinate engaging experiences.
  • Experience planning and delivering lessons or learning activities, including adapting approaches to meet individual student needs.
  • A relevant teaching qualification, alongside GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above (or Level 2 equivalent).
  • A creative, enthusiastic and proactive approach to learning, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • The patience, empathy and resilience to support young people with complex needs and behaviours that may challenge.
  • Strong communication, organisational and teamwork skills, with the confidence to lead activities and maintain accurate records.
  • A driving licence, alongside a commitment to safeguarding, professional development and positive student outcomes.

It would also be advantageous to have:

  • Experience supporting autistic students or young people with behaviours that challenge.
