HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic

Location: Middlesbrough
Salary: Up to £21.57 per hour
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 37 Hours Per Week
Shift Pattern Rotating weekly: Week 1: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:00pm / Week 2: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm

The Role

As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining a varied fleet of commercial and municipal vehicles, ensuring they remain safe, compliant, and operational at all times.

Duties will include:

  • Routine servicing, maintenance, and repair of HGVs and fleet vehicles
  • Working on refuse collection vehicles (RCVs) and municipal vehicles
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
  • Carrying out inspections, safety checks, and preventative maintenance
  • Preparing vehicles to DVSA standards
  • Completing maintenance records and job documentation accurately
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety procedures
Requirements
  • Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, HGV Fitter, LGV Technician, or Commercial Vehicle Technician
  • NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent qualification preferred
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • Good understanding of DVSA standards and compliance requirements
  • Commitment to high-quality workmanship and safety standards
