Main duties of the jobThe Hepatology Department at UHS is pleased to offer a 12-month placement within the Hepatology Nurse Specialist Team. The role will enable you to expand your knowledge in all aspects of liver disease, with a variety of clinics taking place on and off-site. Experience of caring for patients with liver disease is essential. You will be part of the Wessex Operational Delivery Network and involved in innovative projects aimed at eliminating Hepatitis C.

- Registered nurse on the relevant part of the NMC register
- Degree qualification or equivalent (120 credits at Level 6) or equivalent experience
- Completion of all Band 5 (preceptorship) competencies
- Experience supporting and managing learners in practice
- Supporting colleagues to promote effective learning
- Extensive post-registration experience in a specialist area
- Knowledge of current issues in acute healthcare
- Understanding of personal accountability
- Confidence in own knowledge base, aware of learning needs, and seeking guidance when needed
- Ability to critically review and communicate clinical information
- Registered on MSc Pathway - completion of HTPA Competencies
- Experience acting as a Practice Assessor or supporting learner progression
- Counselling qualification
- Palliative care course
- IT training
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
- Interest in nurse-led care
- Organizational and strategic awareness
- Understanding of professional accountability and autonomous practice components

Salary: £38,682 to £46,580 per year, pro rata
