It produces valuable data through data management and develops processes derived from data science to advance data utilization. The FSO thus contributes to public opinion development and makes a significant contribution to complementary governance.Based on the Federal Act of 18 June on the business identifier number (LIDE), the IDE register, managed by the BUR section, is a central database serving businesses. All companies active in Switzerland are included in this register. The data it contains is limited to entities. These are accessible to IDE services, the companies themselves, and, partially, to the public. The IDE domain also handles the distribution of LEI (Legal Entity Identifier) numbers, a global standard for legal entities.
