We're recruiting for an experienced Catering Manager to take overall responsibility for a large-scale catering operation at East Cheshire NHS Hospital in Macclesfield.
Job Description
This is a high-profile leadership role overseeing the preparation and service of fresh meals for more than 300 patients each day across breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as a busy on-site retail restaurant.
You will also provide leadership support to a satellite site serving a further 25 patients. You will lead an established team of 2 Supervisors, 6 Chefs and 20 Food Service Assistants, driving high standards of leadership, team development, food safety and service excellence across both patient and retail catering operations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, motivate and develop a large catering team across patient and retail services.
Oversee the production and delivery of fresh, high-quality meals for 300+ patients each day.
Manage the hospital retail restaurant and wider catering services.
Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene and quality standards.
Lead food safety audits, inspections and quality assurance processes.
Manage recruitment, training, development and performance.
Support menu planning, including seasonal menu development.
Monitor budgets, food costs, stock levels and waste.
Build strong working relationships with hospital stakeholders and client representatives.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
We're looking for a confident and hands-on catering leader who can combine strong operational management with excellent people skills. You'll ideally have:
Previous experience as a Catering Manager or in a senior catering leadership position.
Food Safety Level 3 minimum (Level 4 highly desirable).
Healthcare catering experience - highly desirable.
Strong fresh food production experience.
Experience managing both patient feeding and retail catering.
Proven experience leading, motivating and developing large teams.
Experience managing food safety audits and compliance.
Experience with menu planning and seasonal menu development.
