Job Description

Key responsibilities

This role will lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the organisation's health and safety framework, providing expert advice and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements. Working closely with the Home Safety Manager, the postholder will take a coordinated approach to building and occupational safety, managing key risks, overseeing audit and assurance activity, and ensuring effective compliance with frameworks including the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act and Construction (Design and Management) Regulations through strong oversight of contractors and partners.

Qualifications, skills and experience

The successful candidate will have at least three years' experience in health and safety, with a strong understanding of UK legislation, best practice and construction-related health and safety. They will be confident delivering effective systems and advice, undertaking risk assessments and incident investigations, and working in a customer-focused environment. A National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH), Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or equivalent qualification, knowledge of housing or property compliance, strong IT skills and a full UK driving licence are also required.

35-hour week pilot

Since June 2024 we have been piloting a change to our normal full-time, 37-hour 5-day week. We have been piloting a shorter 35-hour week (for the same pay as before) where staff work a full day Monday to Thursday, and finish the working week at 1pm every Friday. It's just a pilot at this stage while we evaluate its impact on our staff, our tenants, and the service we provide, but if successful we will consider a permanent move to this way of working in 2026.

In addition to this, hybrid working is expected with 2 to 3 days a week in our modern, bright and welcoming office with dedicated parking.
