Kingston Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Officer to join a well-established organisation based in Hull.
Reporting to the QHSE Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the business remains compliant with all relevant Health & Safety legislation and continues to operate within a safe working environment in line with IOSH and ISO 45001 standards.
This is a key role responsible for managing Health & Safety systems, processes, and personnel, including Occupational Health, while working collaboratively across the business to drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain a Safety Management System compliant with ISO 45001 standards.
- Work with all areas of the business to ensure compliance with current Health & Safety legislation
- Monitor and report progress against Health & Safety KPIs and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain the Maintenance Management System, liaising with internal teams and external providers.
- Coordinate and maintain the Training Management System.
- Manage and maintain Occupational Health processes.
- Conduct operational risk assessments and implement effective risk mitigation measures.
- Manage emergency evacuation procedures and reporting processes.
- Oversee external safety inspections and liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance.
- Carry out internal safety inspections, ensuring actions are recorded, tracked, and completed.
- Challenge unsafe behaviours and ensure unsafe conditions are reported and addressed.
- Ensure accident investigations are completed thoroughly and within agreed timescales.
- Coordinate First Aider and Fire Warden activities.
- Work closely with the Group Health & Safety Consultant to support ongoing improvements.
- Formal Health & Safety qualification (NEBOSH General Certificate or above).
- Ideally a member of IOSH (Tech IOSH preferred).
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence and challenge at all levels.
- Good IT skills and numeracy skills.
- Self motivated with a positive and proactive approach.
- Ability to coach colleagues and encourage a strong Health & Safety culture.
- Competitive salary of £30,000 - £35,000 depending on experience.
- 25 days holiday plus statutory bank holidays. Additional annual leave for each completed year of service, up to a maximum of 5 extra days (giving up to 30 days after 5 years' service).
