Job Description
Health & Safety Manager Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and refine the overall Group Health & Safety Strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.

  • Lead the continuous improvement of the Group Health & Safety Management System across all business divisions and sites.

  • Provide expert guidance to the Senior Leadership Team on compliance, risk management, and best practices in health and safety.

  • Support attainment and maintenance of recognised health and safety standards/certifications.

  • Lead, coach, and inspire the Health & Safety team to deliver consistent, effective safety practices enterprise-wide.

  • Encourage a proactive, positive safety culture through engagement, communications, and behaviour change initiatives.

  • Oversee robust risk management processes to identify, assess, and control hazards across all operations.

  • Establish, monitor, and report on Health & Safety performance through KPIs, audits, and inspections, providing regular insights to senior leadership.

  • Lead and coordinate internal/external audits and accreditation processes, ensuring effective responses to findings.

  • Oversee the ongoing development and implementation of safe systems of work, emergency preparedness, and incident response procedures.

  • Support safety during capital projects, construction, site improvements, and contractor activities.

  • Lead or supervise investigations of significant incidents, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.

  • Develop and deliver Health & Safety training programmes, building a culture of competency and accountability.

  • Advise and guide site management and safety committees to encourage active participation and consultation.

  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure high standards and to support local management teams.

  • Continuously promote improvement through data analysis, audits, employee input, and the adoption of best practices.

About You - Qualifications & Experience
  • Level 8 or higher Health & Safety qualification (or equivalent).

  • Minimum 4 years in a senior health and safety position, ideally in a manufacturing, agriculture, food, or multi site environment.

  • Strong knowledge of current Irish health and safety legislation, standards, and practical applications.

  • Track record of leading cultural and behavioural change relating to health & safety.

  • Skilled in managing Safety Management Systems across multiple sites.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams.

  • Highly effective stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.

  • Ability to operate independently, prioritise, and deliver results on your own initiative.

  • Flexible to travel between various company locations as needed.

  • Experience preparing and presenting reports at executive/board level.
