Job Description

As our Health & Safety Manager, you won't just be managing a department; you will be the driving force behind a safer, more productive workplace. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, you will join our Senior Management Team at a pivotal time.

At first, you'll collaborate with our part time H&S Manager to learn the ropes, but you will quickly step up as the primary lead for the Skelmersdale site. Your mission is clear: move us beyond compliance toward a culture of excellence as we aim for ISO45001 certification.

What your day will look like
  • Leading the Strategy: You'll chair H&S management meetings and communicate our compliance goals to every level of the business.

  • Hands on Oversight: From enforcing policies to enhancing risk assessments, you'll be visible across the site, conducting regular audits and inspections.

  • Continuous Improvement: When incidents or near misses occur, you'll lead the investigation, prepare the reports, and most importantly, ensure we learn and improve.

  • Training & Development: You will facilitate inductions and safety training, ensuring our staff and contractors are empowered to work safely.

What we need you to bring to the table
  • The Credentials: You hold a NEBOSH Certificate (or NVQ equivalent) and have a deep understanding of current H&S legislation.

  • The Experience: You have 3 5 years of experience in a dedicated H&S role, ideally within the chemical or manufacturing sectors.

  • The Communication Style: You are an expert at translating complex safety requirements into clear, practical advice for everyone from shop floor operators to the Board.

  • The Tech Skills: You are proficient with Microsoft 365 and have the ability to analyze safety data to spot trends before they become issues.

Working with us
  • Location: 100% Site based in Skelmersdale.

  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

  • Schedule: We offer a consistent daily routine to match our production hours (e.g., 08 00 or 08 30) with a 30 minute lunch break.
