A global organisation is seeking an HSE Advisor to join its team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, supporting its UK operations with primary responsibility for sites in London and Dunstable, while also providing oversight and support to smaller office locations across Europe.

This is a hands-on, operational role within a business where health and safety is well-established and supported by a global HSE function. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining compliance, supporting site operations, managing risk assessments, conducting audits and inspections, delivering HSE training, investigating incidents and driving a positive safety culture across multiple locations.

The position covers four UK sites, including office, warehouse and small manufacturing environments. The business is looking for someone who is comfortable being visible on-site, engaging with employees, contractors and stakeholders, and taking ownership of day-to-day HSE activities. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role involves regular interaction with UK leadership teams and an international HSE function.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Identify operational and regulatory HSE risks, recommend solutions, and implement actions to ensure any breaches are addressed.
  • Support and facilitate accident and incident investigations and provide advice on preventive measures to reduce risk.
  • Responsible for the delivery of company HSE inductions, training, and skills development, including as required for on-site and field staff.
  • Conduct and report on periodic site inspections and self-audits.
  • Oversee risk management program, including: General Risk Assessment, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Assessment, and Fire Risk Assessment.
  • Manage a program of corrective/preventive actions to ensure the highest standards in safe working practices are met.
  • Provide clear and concise information through reports of Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS), incident trends and other key data, to enable management to make effective decisions.
  • Support external HSE and related audits and regulatory visits.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for maintenance, repairs, cleaning, security, and other facility services, ensuring quality and timely completion of work.
  • Monitor critical systems (power, HVAC, water, fire safety) and escalate any risk to operations to plant managers and leadership.
  • Communicate daily with plant manager on key issues, planned shutdowns, and any facility risks impacting production.

Key requirements include:
  • NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum.
  • Previous experience within facilities management, office, corporate, commercial property, warehouse, or multi-site environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a hands-on HSE role.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Comfortable balancing operational delivery with corporate reporting requirements.
  • An Engineering, Business or HSE-related degree would be advantageous.
  • Fluent English is essential. Spanish or French language skills would be beneficial but are not essential.

This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys being actively involved in the day-to-day delivery of health and safety. The role offers exposure to international projects and the opportunity to collaborate with an experienced global HSE function.

Salary: Up to approximately £52,000 depending on experience.

The role is predominantly site-based and travel between UK sites is fully expensed.
