Job Description

The Governors of St Wulstan's & St Edmund's Catholic Academy, in partnership with the Blessed Edward Bamber Catholic Multi Academy Trust, are seeking to appoint an inspirational and committed practising Catholic Headteacher to lead our welcoming, inclusive and ambitious school community.

This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary leader who will build on the school's strong foundations, nurture its distinctive Catholic ethos and inspire pupils, staff and families to achieve the highest standards. We are looking for someone who can provide strategic leadership, champion excellence in teaching and learning, and ensure every child flourishes academically, spiritually and personally.

St Wulstan's & St Edmund's is a caring, one-form entry Catholic primary academy with enthusiastic pupils, dedicated staff, supportive governors and strong links with the parish and wider community. We are seeking a leader with a proven track record of school improvement, a commitment to inclusion and safeguarding, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to inspire, challenge and empower others. The successful candidate will work closely with governors, the Trust and the wider community to shape the next stage of the school's development and success.

  • DBS
  • Medical clearance
  • Verification of qualifications and National Insurance number.
  • Two references including a judgement about suitability to work with children.
  • A member of the interview panel will be trained in implementing Child Protection procedures.
  • In line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025, online search be carried out.

For teaching positions, barred list checks and prohibition from teaching checks will be carried out.
For leadership positions, section 128 checks will be performed.
