This isn't just about managing risk; it's about being a primary role model for Simply Business, setting the cultural standard, and driving the profitable expansion of our MGA through market-leading risk selection and sophisticated pricing capabilities. What makes this role different is the opportunity to be a true pioneer. You'll identify and develop new revenue streams by launching innovative products and exploring fresh distribution opportunities in the SME sector. You'll lead critical relationships with capacity providers and reinsurance partners while using data-driven insights from claims to directly improve our product performance. As one of our Head of Underwriting's, you'll: Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing team of underwriters, fostering an environment of continuous learning and empowerment. Maintain rigorous governance of the MGA, ensuring all activities adhere strictly to our established governance frameworks. Operate within an FCA-regulated role, upholding specific responsibilities under the Senior Manager and Certification Regime (SM&CR). Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, effectively interacting and influencing both internally and externally. Apply deep knowledge of the UK SME insurance market to challenge the status quo and deliver refreshing, pioneering results. Utilise your quantitative skills to remove complexity from underwriting principles, making our processes more efficient and "to the point".# We're looking for someone who is: An insurance expert with a proven track record in underwriting leadership and extensive industry expertise. A proven leader with demonstrated success in managing and developing professional underwriting teams. Highly analytical, with the ability to translate complex data sets into clear, actionable underwriting strategies. A change-maker experienced in pioneering new ways of working and challenging traditional insurance status quo. A strong communicator and highly-motivated collaborator who can explain complex principles in plain English. A strategic partner with a strong understanding of the MGA market landscape and its current challenges. This role may be subject to FCA regulations, which we'll determine during the hiring process. If it is regulated, there will be specific responsibilities under FCA regulations, including enhanced checks and referencing.
