We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Head of Sport & Public Services to provide strategic and operational leadership across the curriculum area.
This is an interim appointment, initially covering the role while the college recruits a permanent Head of Sport & Public Services. However, there is potential for the interim position to become permanent for the right candidate.
The RoleYou will provide leadership across the Sport & Public Services curriculum area, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning and assessment and strong student outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic and operational leadership across the curriculum area.
- Managing staff, resources, budgets and curriculum performance.
- Driving improvements in student achievement, retention, attendance and progression.
- Ensuring high-quality teaching, learning and assessment.
- Developing strong employer and industry partnerships.
- Supporting curriculum development in line with skills and labour market needs.
- Leading quality improvement and inspection readiness.
- Promoting inclusive practice and a positive student experience.
- Supporting innovative digital and AI-enabled approaches to curriculum delivery.
- Contributing to wider college management and strategic priorities.
The role includes a teaching commitment of up to 7 hours per week, where required.
About YouYou will ideally have:
- Significant management experience within FE, sixth form or a similar education setting.
- A recognised teaching qualification and degree-level qualification or equivalent.
- Strong experience managing quality, performance and improvement.
- A good understanding of Ofsted and the Education Inspection Framework (EIF).
- Experience within Sport, Public Services or a relevant curriculum area.
- Strong leadership, staff management and partnership-building skills.
- Experience engaging with employers and industry.
- A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
- An understanding of how AI and digital technology can be used effectively within education.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced curriculum leader to step into a senior interim position and make an immediate impact.
The role will initially be interim/long-term while a permanent appointment is sought, but the successful candidate could have the opportunity to secure the position permanently.
