Job Description
Head of HSEQ Engineering & Installation Services

Location: Alderley Park, Cheshire (UK-wide remit)

A hands on HSEQ leadership role in a fast growing, digital first engineering services group.

If you have practical HSE experience in installation, construction, or engineering projects and want a role where you remain actively engaged on sites, this is your chance to lead Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) across a rapidly expanding UK wide organisation.

You'll combine on ground leadership with strategic influence, shaping safety, quality, and environmental standards across multiple projects, teams, and subsidiaries, while directly implementing and improving HSEQ systems in the field.

The Organisation

We are looking for a hands on HSEQ leader to join a fast growing engineering services group operating in Electrical, Mechanical, and High Voltage sectors. The business has grown rapidly and continues to expand its national footprint.

Based at Alderley Park, a world class innovation campus with modern offices, parkland, trails, sports facilities, and a vibrant community, this role combines the stability of a corporate environment with the energy of operational engineering projects.

The organisation is committed to digital first operational processes, embedding best in class HSEQ standards across multiple sites and subsidiaries, and actively pursuing initiatives in Environment, Social, and Governance.

The Role

This is a hands on, senior HSEQ leadership role at the heart of a fast growing, multi subsidiary engineering group. You will:

  • Lead and implement the HSEQ strategy, ensuring all subsidiary operations adopt common, best in class practices
  • Maintain and enhance all accreditations (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, Constructionline Gold, SafeContractor, CHAS, SSIP, Achilles, NICEIC, ECA, Lloyds NERS, Gas Safe) across the organisation
  • Drive the digital transformation of HSEQ processes, using ERP and digital platforms to unify workflows, compliance reporting, and audits
  • Carry out site inspections, audits, and risk assessments on projects nationwide, maintaining hands on credibility with installation and engineering teams
  • Create SOPs and operational guidance for all activities, delivered across remote offices and live customer sites
  • Train, coach, and mentor employees and contractors to embed HSEQ excellence into day to day operations
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, providing practical insight into operational risks, opportunities, and compliance performance
  • Support new business activities, ensuring HSEQ compliance is embedded in proposals, bids, and operational planning
  • Integrate management systems across multiple subsidiaries, balancing standardisation with operational flexibility
About You

You are a hands on HSEQ professional with field experience in installations, engineering services, or construction projects, with the ability to operate at senior management level while remaining operationally engaged.

You will bring:

  • Proven HSEQ leadership experience in Electrical, Mechanical, or High Voltage engineering services
  • Practical knowledge of UK health & safety, environmental, and quality legislation and standards
  • Direct experience deploying digital management systems for HSEQ compliance across multi site organisations
  • Hands on experience working with installation teams, engineers, contractors, and multiple subsidiary operations
  • The ability to train, mentor, and influence employees at all levels, embedding a culture of HSEQ excellence
  • Strong project management, planning, and delivery skills across complex, multi site operations
  • Specialist qualifications in Safety Management and Leadership, NEBOSH/IOSH, and ISO Lead Auditor certification
  • Full UK driving license, with willingness to travel to projects nationwide

Desirable: Experience with digital HSEQ platforms, ERP integration, and supporting ESG or sustainability initiatives.

Benefits & Working Environment
  • Holiday: 25 days plus bank holidays
  • Pension: 5% employee, 3% employer (statutory)
  • Life Assurance: 3x salary death-in-service cover
  • Employee Support: Employee Assistance Programme including remote GP and wellbeing services
  • Work from a modern, inspiring base at Alderley Park, with access to parkland, trails, gym, and sports facilities
  • A hands on leadership role, remaining actively engaged on live installation and engineering sites
  • Opportunity to develop into a director level HSEQ role as the organisation grows
  • A collaborative culture that values practical, operational expertise alongside corporate influence
