Handle Recruitment is proud to partner with a leading music client in their search for a Head of Royalties to join their royalties team. Working with industry experts, this role plays a key part in the ongoing growth of the royalties function, involving essential technical duties and projects.
As the Head of Royalties, you will oversee the entire royalty process, ensuring accurate collection, processing, analysis, and distribution of royalty income and statements. You will supervise a team of four experienced royalties professionals and liaise with internal departments and external partners to maintain operational integrity and efficiency.
Management and technical duties include:
- Commercial ownership of royalties, including business development, client agreements, and billing
- Managing team workload prioritization, allocation, and professional development
- Product and service development to enhance client royalty services
- Project management related to system implementation and improvements
- Handling all aspects of recording, publishing, profit shares, and management commissions for clients such as labels, publishers, artists, and IP owners
- Ensuring accurate calculation, processing, and distribution of royalties based on contractual terms
- Collaborating with legal and business affairs teams on contract interpretation
- Monitoring royalty tracking across clients, resolving reporting issues, and addressing missing payments
- Overseeing discrepancies in repertoire registration and collections
The ideal candidate will have:
- Management experience in royalties within the music industry
- Experience with Curve or similar royalty software platforms
- Experience with project management software
- Strong attention to detail
- Self-motivation and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
